Mount Rainier, shrouded within a lenticular cloud, peeks out from behind Tacoma, Washington’s historic Old City Hall and Northern Pacific Railroad buildings. The iconic clock tower of Old City Hall is one of Tacoma’s most distinctive and recognized structures, and (often with Mount Rainier in the background) has been the subject of tourist souvenirs, picture postcards, photographs and artwork for over a hundred years. On November 24, 2010, after an unusual cold snap, a pipe burst in the building, soaking the walls, ceilings and floors with 30,000 gallons of water, and the building is now being extensively renovated.

This 9 x 12 print is a reproduction of the original letterpress piece from “Local Conditions," a 15-print limited-edition series depicting Washington’s Mt. Rainier from a variety of vantage points.

The original artwork was letterpress printed by hand on an antique Vandercook No. 4 press and then hand-painted with watercolor.

Paper size is 12 x 9.

This artwork is copyright Chandler O’Leary 2011. Copyright is not transferable with the sale of this print. The buyer is not entitled to reproduction rights.
