JOURNEY 4 - Original Topographical Stitched Watercolor Map + Frame.
Beautifully float-framed (no mat) in a minimal white square frame that measures 20” x 20” x 2” deep.
This is an Abstract Map built upon a map of a real place - Mountain Lake and Giles County in Virginia.
This Map is one of five Journey Maps which are part of a larger series that mix real and imagined landscapes in an inquiry of her personal journey through a creative and academic life, motherhood and family life, and, in the moment, navigating the untangling and confusion of divorce. Each Map here presents a known landscape she has mapped many times in layers of topography and geography, using a variety of mediums. The quintessential layer is the sewn lines of colored thread. Amid the lines proscribed by builders, cartographers and the upheaval of tectonic plates, her hand carefully stitched a path, tangled with the myriad moments of life - a journey. She hopes you can imagine your own journey in this landscape.
