"Hello, my name is Mateo and I’m a traditional artist. I’m Cowichan but I’m also descendants of Nanoose, Nanaimo, and Chemainus bay tribes. My Formline journey began 4 years ago when I wanted to connect myself back to my culture. I started by just sharing my sketches with family and I loved sharing my art. After a year of exploring I wanted to become an artist and I want to draw every animal. Everyone’s favorite animal, mythical or not. I want to include every detail/ species so even animal nerds can appreciate it. Connecting back to Formline is healing for me, I want to encourage everyone to explore their traditional art. Formline is limitless and I will show it."
