Introduction by Rock Hushka

This catalog is published in conjunction with Tacoma Art Museum to commemorate one of Tacoma’s most influential glass artists, Dale Chihuly. Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1941, Chihuly was the first American to be welcomed into the renowned glass studios of Venice, Italy. In addition to studying and teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design, he founded the Pilchuck Glass School with Anne and John Hauberg in 1971. He has a workshop in Seattle and stores his works in The Boathouse on Lake Washington.
