The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) - under the editorship of W.E.B. Du Bois - established The Crisis magazine in 1910 to provide a magazine for its members. The Crisis, which Du Bois edited for nearly 25 years, became the premier outlet for black writers and artists.
