Apple Orchard Letterpress Print

Regular price $100.00 Sale

An original, hand-printed, hand-painted letterpress print—this is not a reproduction! “Apple Orchard” is part of Chandler O’Leary’s Local Conditions series, which depicts Washington’s Mt. Rainier from a variety of different vantage points. The series includes a total of 15 designs.

In this piece, the view overlooks the eastern face of Mt. Rainier and the Yakima Valley, famous for its many vineyards and apple, pear and peach orchards. Washington state has been the top apple producer in the United States since the 1920s. Here, the apple and Mt. Rainier are equally well-known icons of the state.

This artwork was letterpress printed by hand on an antique Vandercook No. 4 press, on soft white Rives Lightweight paper. Each print in the edition was then painstakingly hand-painted with watercolor. Each print is numbered, signed and dated, and labeled with the latitude/longitude coordinates of the exact location the illustration was drawn from.
